Dr. Aimee Fontanilla

Dr. Fontanilla has been teaching in Ontario since 2022. She has taught AP CSA, C programming, Python, and Scratch coding in Richmond Hill. Before coming to Canada, Dr. Fontanilla was a computer science teacher at Philippine Science High School for over 15 years. Her long experience as a high school teacher sparked her interest in how young learners study programming and CS fundamentals.
Dr. Fontanilla is a mother of two boys who were both born while she was doing her post-graduate studies in Tokyo. She and her family love visiting parks, trails, and beaches around Ontario and she always takes lots of photos of the places they go so she can later paint them in her spare time. She particularly loves painting flowers and landscapes and usually paints cards for her friends and her sons’ teachers.
At SJK, Dr. Fontanilla will be teaching design and computer science in the Upper School, and she is excited to meet the smart and talented students of SJK. She is also very happy to be in this beautiful campus surrounded by nature.
Dr. Fontanilla holds a Bachelor of Science in comptuer science from the University of the Philippines, a Master of Science in computer science from Ateneo de Manila University, a Master of Engineering in human system science from Tokyo Institute of Technology, and a PhD in human system science from Tokyo Institute of Technology.
